Safety

At Morrow & Moon, safety is a core design requirement, not an afterthought.

Founded by a babywearing mother, we understand that the products we use to carry our children must earn our trust. That's why every Saturn Ring is backed by material verification, load testing, and third-party safety testing for applicable requirements established by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

We believe families deserve transparency, so we've made our testing information available for review.

Material Verification

Every alloy used in our rings is accompanied by supplier documentation, including:

  • XRF Test Reports

  • Mill Test Reports (MTRs)

These documents allow us to verify material composition and assess compliance with applicable federal requirements, including applicable limits on lead content.

Load Testing

Every Saturn Ring material undergoes load testing to evaluate both:

  • Deformation Load - the point at which permanent deformation begins

  • Ultimate Failure Load - the point at which the ring ultimately fails

Our load testing applies up to 1,000 lbs of force to representative samples of each Saturn Ring material. While babywearing hardware should never be subjected to loads of this size during normal use, this testing provides valuable information about the structural performance of each material.

All Saturn Rings are weight rated to 100 lbs.

As an additional margin of safety, every Saturn Ring material must withstand at least three times its published 100 lb weight rating without beginning to deform. Please note that we make this information available for transparency, and we do not advise applying more than our published weight rating of 100 lbs of force upon your Saturn Rings.

Third-Party Laboratory Testing

Representative samples of each Saturn Ring collection are in the process of being submitted to a CPSC accredited third-party laboratory for independent evaluation.

Testing includes:

  • Lead content

  • Small parts requirements

  • Sharp edge and point requirements

  • Corrosion testing

  • Load testing

Current Status

Third-party testing of Saturn Rings is currently underway through a CPSC-accredited laboratory. Representative samples are being submitted for evaluation as materials and collections are finalized.
